Since 2019, Redbox has worked closely with Mount Dennis BIA to expand its arts and culture programming. In 2023, that groundwork culminated in a landmark partnership with the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival, bringing a core exhibition to Mount Dennis for the first time.

The Mount Dennis BIA aimed to establish itself as a cultural destination by leveraging its rich industrial and photographic history. The challenge was not only to attract attention to the neighbourhood but also to foster a sense of pride, connection, and cultural capital within the community.

This exhibition was part of the BIA’s broader mandate to build cultural capital, expand public awareness, and prepare the neighbourhood for increased attention with the upcoming Mount Dennis Station transit hub. Arts education, digital storytelling, and intentional media outreach were core components of the strategy.
